Testimonial

Watermarx Graphics produced several meeting invitations for me during my years in pharmaceutical marketing. They have a very professional and efficient team and the quality of their work is exceptional.

I would highly recommend Watermarx Graphics for any specialty print work.

What is Embossing?

Embossing creates a raised impression. The paper is reshaped raising the image above the level of the paper so the image stands proud on the sheet.

Debossing is when the image has been impressed into the paper. The paper is reshapes below the level of the paper, so the image is recessed into the sheet

Embossing and debossing can be single level or multi-level

At Watermarx Graphics – we specialise in single level embossing or debossing and are licenced users of the award winning CLIQX die system.

CLIQX embossing dies enable us to:

  • Make our own dies in house
  • Are made from polymer – so are water wash out – not acid etched
  • Enable a speedy turn around and make ready
  • Provide award winning results with clean sharp embossed images

Watermarx Graphics recommends you talk through your design and paper stock in the design phase.

How to set up art for Embossing or debossing for Watermarx Embossing & debossing paper choice / stock finishes

  • Please supply your art as either a PDF or EPS file.
  • Save art as 100% black (k)
  • Include all registration marks
  • Ensure your files are saved as vector file – (so all fonts are outlined) or a very high resolution jpg saved as black.
  • As a rule – ensure your line work is 1pt or greater
  • We ask you also supply a composite file of the job in colour as a PDF – which also serves as a positional
  • It’s always best to check your art with us before you start production and maybe even consider running a test if you are in doubt before commencing

Remember, poor quality art in = poor quality image out

Watermarx will check you files prior to running film, however we can take no responsibility for errors in client supplied files.

If a printing error is a result of incorrect artwork supplied by client, the client will be responsible for reprinting and associated costs.

Not all stocks are suitable for embossing & debossing.  The stock selected will determine the depth of the emboss that is achievable. Stocks that are dense (like boards) tend to crack when embossed, so are not recommended.

Uncoated stocks tend to be more suitable for embossing or debossing. In general terms, stocks that have loose fibres are ideal for embossing & debossing.

If you are supplying (offset or digitally) pre-printed sheets to be embossed or debossed – please speak to us before you start your job to ensure the job is planned to eliminate any unwanted hiccups!
